France Sees Largest Surge in COVID-19 Cases... 8,975 New Infections in a Day Increase
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The number of new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in France has increased to the largest scale. This confirms a rapid spread in France, which had shown a lull phase after the major outbreak in March-April this year.
According to the international statistics site Worldometer on the 4th (local time), 8,975 new COVID-19 cases were reported in France. This is more than the 7,578 new cases recorded on March 31, the highest number of new cases in France earlier this year. As a result, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in France reached 309,156.
The death toll increased by 18, reaching 30,724.
In France, 87,206 patients have recovered, while 191,226 patients are still undergoing treatment.
France had shown a stable trend with new cases dropping below 1,000, but the increase accelerated again around the end of July.
