[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Park Jong-bok, CEO of SC Jeil Bank, has secured a third term.
On the 3rd, SC Jeil Bank held a board meeting and a shareholders' meeting, announcing the reappointment of the current CEO Park as the next bank president.
The next CEO's term is three years, starting on January 8 next year. Earlier, SC Jeil Bank, aiming for proactive organizational stability and resolution of uncertainties through early appointment of the next CEO, recommended CEO Park as the final candidate for the next bank president at the executive candidate recommendation committee held on the 28th of last month.
Since assuming office on January 8, 2015, CEO Park has been recognized for his outstanding leadership and extensive banking experience, implementing bold and proactive organizational restructuring and establishing a stable business growth foundation, significantly improving performance and profitability even under rapidly changing business environments.
After his reappointment in 2018, he has continuously led change and innovation responding to the Fourth Industrial Revolution era by harmoniously utilizing the two brands, Standard Chartered (SC) and Jeil Bank, strengthening strategic business partnerships, digital capabilities, and asset management business growth. Especially this year, despite the challenging domestic and international economic environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he has led the organization and business stably through revenue diversification. The bank posted a net profit of 182 billion won in the first half of this year, a 21% increase compared to last year.

Born in 1955 in Cheongju, Chungbuk, CEO Park graduated from Cheongju High School and Kyung Hee University with a degree in economics, then joined Jeil Bank (the predecessor of SC Jeil Bank) in August 1979. Starting at the Myeongdong Central Branch in Seoul, he spent over 20 years in branch operations, known as a ‘sales expert’ and a ‘Jeil Bank man’ who has dedicated 40 years solely to this bank. With Park’s third term confirmed, he will have worked at the same bank for 45 years by 2024.
