View original image[Asia Economy (Cheongyang) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Seventeen employees at a kimchi factory located in Cheongyang, Chungnam, have been collectively infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to Chungnam Province and Cheongyang County on the 3rd, a woman in her 20s of Nepalese nationality at this factory underwent a COVID-19 test on the 1st after showing cold symptoms and was confirmed positive the next day.
On the 3rd, 16 more employees tested positive. After the Nepalese woman was confirmed positive, 26 close contacts (kimchi factory employees) identified through epidemiological investigation were quarantined at the facility and tested for COVID-19, resulting in 16 additional confirmed cases among employees.
The additional confirmed cases mainly reside in Cheongyang, Boryeong, and Hongseong, and among them, five foreigners were also included, according to the investigation.
The infection route of the Nepalese woman who was the first confirmed case at the kimchi factory has not yet been identified.
