Medical Community Coordinating Single Agreement Proposal... "Reviewing Essential Workforce Reallocation"

[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The medical community has begun coordinating opinions to reach a single agreement. The Korean Medical Association (KMA) and the Young Doctors Emergency Committee plan to submit the derived agreement as an agenda item to the "Special Committee for the Fight Against the Four Major Evils in the Medical Community (Beomtuwi)."
On the 3rd, the Young Doctors Emergency Committee, composed of the Korean Intern Resident Association and the Korean Medical School and Graduate Medical School Student Association, announced through a notice that "on the evening of the 2nd, we began coordinating opinions on a single agreement together with the KMA executive," and "on the afternoon of the 3rd, we plan to submit this matter as an agenda item to Beomtuwi for further discussion." The Beomtuwi meeting will be held privately at 1 p.m. in the KMA conference room on the same day.
The Young Doctors Emergency Committee stated, "We recognize the necessity of deploying essential personnel," and added, "Together with the National Association of Medical School Professors, we will keep all possibilities open and review the reallocation of essential personnel to cope with the prolonged collective action."
They continued, "During the dialogue on the 1st between the Young Doctors Emergency Committee and Han Jeong-ae, the Policy Committee Chair of the Democratic Party of Korea, we were able to confirm each other's positions," and explained, "We spoke sincerely about resolving the issues both sides face, and the conversation was more productive than before." The meeting was significant in that it opened the door to dialogue.

The Emergency Committee said, "We explained the current stance of the residents, the need for withdrawal or re-discussion from the beginning, and conveyed the concerns of frontline young doctors regarding Han’s reassignment as Policy Committee Chair." In response, Han stated, "Although I have been reassigned, the communication channel has been unified to resolve this issue, and the National Assembly will take a more active role in listening to the demands of young doctors," adding, "As the Policy Committee Chair, I expressed my intention to approach the resolution with greater responsibility."
