View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Typhoon No. 9 ‘Maysak’ is moving northward toward the Korean Peninsula, heading toward Busan and Gyeongnam, leading to a full traffic control order on the 20 km section of the Geoga Bridge at 7:30 PM on the 2nd. The wind strength is intensifying to the extent that inland detour roads must be used.
The Donghae Line electric train between Bujeon and Ilgwang suspended operations from 7:47 PM on the 2nd. All six trains departing from Busan Ilgwang after 10:42 PM and from Bujeon after 10:47 PM, both up and down lines, have stopped. The Busan Gimhae Light Rail Transit also ended operations early.
The Busan Police Agency began traffic control at 8 PM on a 1.3 km section of Marine City 1-ro in Haeundae-gu. Traffic was also blocked from 8:30 PM on the section from Gwangalli Eonyang Bulgogi Intersection to Millak Waterfront Park. Strong waves began to hit the coastal road at Gwangalli Beach.
From 8:30 PM, container trucks were prohibited from entering Gwangandaegyo Bridge. As the Nakdong River water level rose, the sections including Deokcheon Drainage Pump Station in Buk-gu, Busan, and Hwamyung Ecological Park were also closed starting at 8:30 PM.
From 8:40 PM, the 3 km section of Eulsukdo Bridge connecting Saha-gu and Gangseo-gu in Busan was also closed. The 150 m two-way section of Sugwan Bridge in Sasang-gu and the entire 1.5 km section of Songdo Beach Road and Deungdae-ro in Seo-gu were closed from 9 PM. The 200 m section of Cheonga Bridge in Gadeokdo, Gangseo-gu was also closed to traffic at 9:10 PM.

View original imageBusan police have expanded the operation of the disaster situation room following the issuance of the typhoon warning. The disaster situation room is composed of a total of 5 teams and 16 functions, serving as the control tower for typhoon preparedness.
Busan Police Chief Jin Jeong-mu has cut short his vacation and returned to work, actively coordinating overall command to prepare for typhoon-related incidents. Traffic police have entered emergency standby, and pre-inspections and patrol activities have been strengthened in areas prone to flooding such as underground passages.
Preventive patrols against landslides and other hazards have also been intensified, and when the typhoon passes through the Busan area, a full mobilization order for available personnel will be issued to prepare for the typhoon’s impact.
