Samsung Securities, Foreign Exchange Preferential Event for 'Seohak Gaemi'
'Become Wealthy and Prosperous with Overseas Stocks' Event
First-Time Overseas Stock Online Trading Customers Entered in a Drawing for a 999 KRW Preferential Won/USD Exchange Rate Benefit
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] Samsung Securities announced on the 2nd that it will hold a foreign exchange preferential event called "Become Wealthy with Overseas Stocks" until the 18th for overseas stock online direct purchase customers, commonly known as Seohak Gaemi.
This Wealthy with Overseas Stocks event, targeting customers making their first online overseas stock transaction, offers a benefit to 50 winners selected by lottery who trade overseas stocks online for the first time with at least 1 million KRW. Winners can exchange currency at a preferential rate of 999 KRW per US dollar when converting KRW to USD.
For example, if a winning customer exchanges 1 million KRW to USD assuming the exchange rate at the time is 1,200 KRW per dollar, a regular customer (at 1,200 KRW per dollar) would receive 833 USD, while the winning customer (at 999 KRW per dollar) would receive 1,001 USD. The customer can then receive a payback equivalent to the difference of 168 USD multiplied by the exchange rate at the time (1,200 KRW per dollar), which amounts to approximately 201,600 KRW (168 USD x 1,200 KRW).
Winners of the event can receive a payback benefit of up to 500,000 KRW per person during the month of October.
A Samsung Securities representative said, "Recently, demand for directly purchasing overseas stocks has been increasing among domestic investors," and added, "We plan to continuously introduce various services and events related to overseas stocks, which may seem vague to investors encountering overseas stocks for the first time."
