COVID-19 Impact... Winter Universiade Also Postponed
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The International University Sports Federation (FISU) announced on the 1st (local time) that the 2021 Winter Universiade, which was scheduled to be held in Switzerland in January 2021, has been postponed due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Regarding the reason for the postponement, FISU explained that about 40% of the registered participants for the event are affected in entering Switzerland due to the COVID-19 pandemic (global resurgence).
The 2021 Winter Universiade was originally scheduled to take place from January 21 to 31 next year in Lucerne and other locations, with students from about 540 universities across 50 countries participating.

FISU stated that approximately 40% of the registered participants are affected in entering Switzerland due to the COVID-19 pandemic. FISU plans to discuss possible dates for holding the event within the next two months.
