Daegu Youth Sweep Grand Prize and Excellence Awards at the 'Student Creativity Champion Competition'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Recently, at the 'Korea Student Creativity Champion Competition' hosted and organized by the Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Korea Invention Promotion Association, three teams representing Daegu achieved a remarkable feat by sweeping the grand prize, excellence award, and encouragement award.
According to the Daegu Creative Convergence Center on the 1st, the finals of this competition, held annually to cultivate creative problem-solving skills among students and youth, were conducted online and non-face-to-face from August 13 to 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After the regional preliminary competition in June, three teams representing Daegu advanced to the finals, which included 50 teams nationwide: the middle school team 'Gaeseongppangppang', the elementary school team 'Create Tamheomdae', and the high school team 'Gwachejung'. These teams gathered at designated locations by region and creatively solved ▲expression tasks (creative performances using prepared props) and ▲improvisation tasks (solving on-site presented problems using materials and tools), which were evaluated in real-time via video by the judges.
The middle school team 'Gaeseongppangppang' received high evaluations for originality, communication skills, teamwork, and completeness, earning the grand prize (Chairman Award of the National Intellectual Property Committee). The elementary school team 'CREATE Tamheomdae' won the excellence award (Minister of Education Award), and the high school team 'Gwachejung' received the encouragement award (President Award of the Korea Invention Promotion Association). The awards ceremony will be held on November 6 at the COEX Auditorium.
Jang Jinju, director of the Daegu Creative Convergence Education Center, said, "The excellent results of this competition are the fruit of students' capabilities and consistent efforts, excellent guidance from teachers, and devoted support from parents, even amid the COVID-19 situation," adding, "We will continue to provide wholehearted support so that students can develop future competencies by solving various tasks."
