Gwangju Seobu Fire Station Strengthens 'Emergency Rescue Readiness' in Preparation for Typhoon Maysak
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Western Fire Station (Chief Lee Cheontaek) announced on the 1st that it will strengthen emergency rescue readiness in preparation for the northward approach of Typhoon No. 9 "Maysak."
The main measures include ▲ maintaining and inspecting firefighting forces and response equipment at 100% operational status in preparation for the typhoon ▲ strengthening preventive patrols in landslide risk areas, construction sites, and low-lying flood-prone areas ▲ pre-removal of objects expected to fall, such as signboards, in anticipation of strong winds ▲ two-person team activities to prevent on-site safety accidents ▲ inspection of personal safety equipment and on-site safety evaluations.
The fire station plans to maximize the use of available firefighting resources for restoration and livelihood protection activities to minimize citizen inconvenience in the event of typhoon damage.

Chief Lee Cheontaek said, “Since the typhoon is expected to have direct and indirect impacts, we will do our best to minimize typhoon damage,” and added, “Residents in areas at risk of collapse or flooding are urged to take an active interest in prior preparation and securing safety.”
