Next-Generation JiHanpa Development, KF Hosts '100 Korean-Based Chinese Graduate Students Forum'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] KF (Korea Foundation) announced on the 1st that it will hold the launch ceremony of the '3rd Forum of 100 Chinese Graduate Students in Korea' on the 3rd at the Sungkyun China Research Institute of Sungkyunkwan University, jointly with the Sungkyun China Research Institute.
The launch ceremony will be attended by key figures including Lee Geun, Chairman of KF, and Lee Hee-ok, Director of the Sungkyun China Research Institute, to celebrate the start of activities of Chinese international students in Korea over the next three months.
The 'Forum of 100 Chinese Graduate Students in Korea' program was first planned in 2018 to nurture master's and doctoral students who play a leading role in the domestic Chinese student community as the next generation of Korea-aware (Jihan) leaders and to create opportunities for friendly exchanges between Korea and China. By helping participants develop a correct understanding of Korea, it aims to alleviate anti-Korean sentiment and cultivate Korea-aware researchers who deeply understand Korea through systematic interest and continuous management.
The 100 participants of the 3rd term, who were finally selected through a public recruitment in early August, will attend expert lectures related to various fields such as Korean culture, society, and politics for about two months. Given that the COVID-19 pandemic has emerged as a global common challenge and Korea's quarantine model is receiving worldwide attention, a total of four online non-face-to-face lectures will be held, including a lecture on the theme of 'K-Quarantine.' In November, an intensive study tour workshop where participants can directly experience Korea will be conducted offline in a face-to-face format.

Lee Geun, Chairman of KF, said, "Although there are many regrets due to various restrictions caused by COVID-19, we have made every effort to prepare more substantial lectures to compensate for this," adding, "We expect this to be an opportunity to significantly enhance the participants' understanding and experience of Korea."
