[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] Along with the implementation of social distancing level 2.5, activities to maintain the 'last line of defense' online are becoming more active. The '#StayStrong' campaign, which started in March this year, is spreading again, and the 'Jipkok Challenge'?where people refrain from going out and share their simple daily lives at home?is also gaining popularity.
The Jipkok Challenge involves sharing moments of resting and enjoying daily life at home on social networking services (SNS) while refraining from going out. People post photos of setting up tents at home and playing with young children or cooking something different on weekends, sharing these small moments with others. Searching the Jipkok Challenge hashtag on Facebook revealed that more than 2,300 users, including famous celebrities, have participated. In line with this, small events are also being held. Geoje City in Gyeongnam Province decided to give mobile gift certificates to 30 residents who share the Jipkok Challenge on SNS until the 6th of next month, while social distancing level 2.5 is maintained. Some internet mom cafes have also held events where participants who upload Jipkok photos receive prizes based on the number of comments and recommendations.
