Bill Winters, Chairman of SC Group, Visits Korea... One Month Stay
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Bill Winters, chairman of Standard Chartered Group (SC Group) of the UK, the parent company of SC First Bank, has visited Korea.
SC First Bank announced on the 31st that Chairman Bill arrived in Korea on the 30th and plans to work in Korea for about a month.
During his stay in Korea, Chairman Bill plans to deepen mutual understanding with the Korean market and key stakeholders through on-site management in Korea, one of SC Group's major markets, and also have opportunities to communicate with customers and employees. Additionally, he plans to perform his daily duties as chairman aligned with global time zones such as London and Singapore through online channels, while directly observing Korea's digital infrastructure and fintech (finance + technology) industry sites.
Park Jong-bok, president of SC First Bank, said, "Chairman Bill Winters has repeatedly emphasized the importance and role of the Korean market, and he wanted to closely observe Korea's differentiated quarantine system in response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19)." He added, "We expect this opportunity to work in Korea will be a great chance for Chairman Bill to gain a deeper understanding of the Korean business environment and reflect it in SC Group's management strategy."
