[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Elementary and high school students have drawn attention by sending encouragement supplies to the medical staff at Chonnam National University Hospital (Director Lee Samyong), who are making every effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and provide treatment.
On the 31st, according to Chonnam National University Hospital, students from Eunhye Saemmul Elementary School in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, and Gwangyang Girls' High School in Jeonnam sent handwritten letters, drawings, snacks, and beverages.
The Eunhye Saemmul Elementary students wrote letters of thanks and encouragement to the medical staff sweating on the front lines of COVID-19 treatment wearing protective suits despite the hot weather during a character education class themed on ‘Patience’ (instructor Jeong Dohee).
The neatly folded colored paper letters and individual plastic bags containing various types of snacks were filled with the sincere efforts of the ‘little hands.’
A second-grade student’s letter, written carefully along with a pretty drawing, expressed concern for the medical staff’s health, saying, “It’s hot wearing protective suits, but please stay strong and work hard.”
About 30 students from Gwangyang Girls' High School also filled letter sheets with tiny handwriting to express their gratitude and sent beverages as encouragement supplies.
Many of these students, having seen the hardships of the medical staff through the news, pledged to strictly follow mask-wearing and social distancing.
A second-grade student who dreams of becoming a doctor wrote in the letter, “Watching a COVID-19 documentary, I cried seeing the medical staff caring for patients wearing multiple layers of protective gear without losing their smiles. I want to become a strong, responsible, and proud doctor like the medical staff who are fighting hard now.”
