Grand Recruitment of New Tenants for Youth Startup Housing in Gangdong-gu
Recruitment of 16 Youth Yega Households and 28 Seongnae Challenge Dormitory Households for Youth Independence and Growth... Applications Open Until September 4, Announcement Available on Gangdong-gu and SH Corporation Websites
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is recruiting young people to move into two new youth startup housing units where young artists and (prospective) young entrepreneurs can live and work together until September 4.
This is a demand-tailored public rental housing project promoted in collaboration with Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH), allowing residents to stay for up to six years after contract renewal review.
The district is actively discovering and nurturing young people working in various fields and preparing policies for youth. Among them, youth startup housing is expected to support youth independence and growth by providing combined work and living spaces at costs lower than market prices.
Since 2016, the district has created a total of 95 units across five locations, operating Amsa Dojeonsuk and Cheonho Dojeonsuk where residents can move in regardless of industry, Gangdong Drone Village for the 4th industrial sector, Youth Leather Creative Village for creative fields, and Youth Antenna for YouTube creators.
This time, 'Cheongnyeon Yega' was newly established for young artists or youth entrepreneurs related to culture and arts, and 'Seongnae Dojeonsuk' for (prospective) young entrepreneurs. They are recruiting 16 and 28 households respectively, with applications accepted until September 4.
Applicants will undergo document and income screening, with announcements made at the end of October, and move-in available from December.
The exclusive area of the two new housing units ranges from 30 to 38㎡, with rental deposits from 19.71 million to 41.25 million KRW and monthly rents from 256,700 to 592,300 KRW.
Rental deposits and monthly rents vary depending on income criteria and unit type.
Eligibility requires applicants to be youth artists or (prospective) young entrepreneurs aged 19 to 39, living in Seoul with no more than two household members without home ownership as of the recruitment announcement date, and meeting income and asset criteria.
The income and asset criteria are set at 70% or less of the previous year's urban worker average monthly income: for a single-person household, 1,851,603 KRW or less (total assets under 200 million KRW, vehicle value under 24.68 million KRW), and for a two-person household, 3,065,866 KRW or less.
