'10,000 Won Discount' Budget Phone Exclusive Discount Card Launches Tomorrow... Comprehensive Portal Also Opens
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] On the 1st, exclusive cards that allow budget phone users to receive up to 15,000 KRW discount on monthly communication fees will be launched by Kookmin Card and Post Office Card. On the same day, a comprehensive portal where users can compare the plans of 16 domestic budget phone operators at a glance and purchase devices in a one-stop service will also open.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 31st, this is part of the "Budget Phone Activation Measures," which ▲ enables consumers to easily select customized communication plans to reduce their communication expenses and ▲ significantly strengthens the combination of "budget phones" and "self-supplied phones" so that users can choose self-supplied devices that suit them.
First, the Ministry of Science and ICT will fully revamp the budget phone comprehensive portal 'Budget Phone Hub (알뜰폰.kr)' and open it on the 1st. Within the portal, users can directly set their desired data, voice, and text usage ranges to compare and search budget phone operators' plans and subscribe to customized plans, enhancing convenience. Additionally, it is linked with new self-supplied device sites from device manufacturers and major used device sales sites to enable device purchases.
On the same day, Kookmin Card and Post Office Card will launch 'Budget Phone Exclusive Discount Cards' applicable to all budget phones. Depending on card usage performance, users can receive discounts of 10,000 to 15,000 KRW on communication fees. Lotte Card is also expected to introduce an exclusive discount card in October. The Ministry of Science and ICT has placed exclusive discount card information on the first screen and activation application page of the Budget Phone Hub so that users can easily select fee discount benefits.
A Ministry of Science and ICT official stated, "Through the opening of the Budget Phone Hub, users will be able to search and purchase customized plans and devices at once, improving accessibility to budget phones and reducing communication cost burdens."
