[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] The Democratic Party of Korea announced on the 30th that it has appointed Representative Oh Young-hoon as the Chief Secretary to the new party leader Lee Nak-yeon. Kim Young-bae was appointed as the Political Affairs Director, and Choi In-ho as the Chief Spokesperson.
Representative Oh, representing Jeju-si Eul district, served as the Deputy Floor Leader and Floor Spokesperson during the 20th National Assembly and acted as the candidate's Chief Secretary during this party convention.
Representative Kim, originally from Busan, represents the Seongbuk-gu Gap district in Seoul. He has held positions such as Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee of the National Balanced Development Committee, Policy Coordination Secretary and Civil Affairs Secretary at the Blue House under the Moon Jae-in administration, and Mayor of Seongbuk-gu during the 5th and 6th local government terms. The Democratic Party explained, "The previous Political Affairs (Coordination) Director assisted the leader's political activities," adding, "Leader Lee Nak-yeon appointed a sitting lawmaker to serve as a bridge between the party, government, and Blue House during this emergency period."
Park Rae-yong, former editorial writer at Kyunghyang Shinmun, was appointed as the Message Director. He is from Gwangju and has worked as a journalist for 30 years.
