Chonnam National University Accelerates Education in Fisheries Resource Management
‘Advanced Data Analysis Practice for Fisheries Resource Management’ 진행
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chonnam National University is accelerating education on fisheries resource management using information and communication technology.
According to Chonnam National University on the 30th, the ICT Fisheries Resource Management Research Institute (Director Professor Seo Ho-young) conducted an "Advanced Data Analysis Practice for Fisheries Resource Management" from the 18th to the 21st.
This practice aimed to understand the characteristics of field data produced in the fisheries and marine sector and to handle appropriate analysis methods. Among the participants, nine outstanding students were awarded a "Field-tailored Professional Certification."
Students who acquired statistical skills will participate next month in producing databases necessary for onboard survey field data analysis and fisheries resource management model development using the Saedongbaekho vessel.
The practice involved undergraduate students from the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences at the Yeosu Campus, some graduate students, as well as external researchers from the National Park Management Corporation and Haerang Technology Policy Research Institute Co., Ltd.

Director Seo Ho-young said, "We will strive harder to equip students and the general public in the fisheries and marine fields, who have felt vague difficulties with statistical analysis, with practical skills through information and communication technology education."
