Statistics Korea Discusses "Everyday Life Changed by COVID-19 and the Role of National Statistics" on the 28th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] On the 28th, Statistics Korea held the 10th National Statistics Development Forum at Lotte City Hotel in Daejeon.
The forum, held under the theme "Exploring the Role of National Statistics in the Post-Corona Era," featured discussions on the changes in daily life caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and the role of national statistics.
In his opening remarks, Kang Shin-wook, Commissioner of Statistics Korea, stated, "We must all work together to create and promote a data ecosystem where data is generated, distributed, and utilized." He added, "Statistics Korea will keep pace with new trends by establishing a national statistics framework that defines the direction national statistics should take and preparing innovations in statistics production methods based on information and communication technology (ICT)."
Professor Jang Won-cheol of Seoul National University delivered a keynote speech on personal data protection and common data models, discussing directions for development related to these topics.
