[Asia Economy New York=Correspondents Baek Jong-min and Na Ju-seok] On the second day of the Republican National Convention on the 25th (local time), First Lady Melania Trump took the stage as the final speaker, delivering an emotional speech by sharing personal stories. With the entire Trump family appearing as key speakers, there were criticisms that the Republican National Convention had turned into a family event. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's speech also faced criticism for violating the political neutrality obligation of public officials.
That day, Melania Trump entered the Rose Garden of the White House, the venue of the speech, dressed in military green, with President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence and their spouses watching. Melania's speech seemed to focus on emotions, targeting female voters.

She expressed gratitude, saying, "I hoped to immigrate from Slovenia, where I was born, to the land of freedom and opportunity, the United States, and through my parents' efforts, I achieved that goal." She also emphasized that "after ten years of paperwork and patience, I became a U.S. citizen," highlighting that the path to becoming an American was not easy, aiming to resonate with immigrants.
She also expressed sympathy for Americans suffering from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Melania said, "I want to acknowledge how dramatically our lives have changed since last March. I sincerely offer my condolences to all who have lost loved ones and will pray for those still suffering." CNN noted that during the two-hour Republican National Convention, the COVID-19 pandemic was not mentioned at all, making Melania's condolence remarks significant as the first acknowledgment.
Melania said, "I want you to know that you are not alone," adding, "President Trump will not stop fighting until effective treatments or vaccines are available to everyone."
Seemingly aware of the racial discrimination protests, Melania urged, "Let us stop the violence and looting carried out in the name of justice," while also saying, "Like you, I have reflected on our country's racial unrest. We do not take pride in parts of our history."
Melania also asked for support for her husband, President Trump. She sought understanding by saying he is not a traditional politician and introduced him as "Donald, my husband who supports everything I try to do."
She continued, "Donald always demands action and delivers results," appealing for support by saying, "It would be an honor to work for this amazing country for another four years."
Near the end of her speech, Melania expressed that she did not want to engage in disparaging Democratic candidate Joe Biden. She emphasized, "I do not want to use such precious time to attack others. As we saw last week, such remarks only further divide the country."
After the speech, President Trump, who was in the audience, approached Melania, hugged her, and then exited.
Additionally, at the Republican National Convention, President Trump's second son Eric Trump and daughter Tiffany Trump also spoke. With the Trump family appearing as key speakers, there were criticisms that the Republican National Convention had become a family affair. Unlike Melania, President Trump's children launched fierce attacks on candidate Biden. CNN pointed out that with not only Melania but also the Trump children appearing at the convention, the Republican National Convention had become a family affair.
Eric Trump criticized Biden's policies, claiming, "If Biden is elected, taxes will rise, illegal immigration will be handled weakly, and freedoms will be eroded." Tiffany Trump criticized both Biden and the mainstream media, saying, "The mainstream media has unnecessarily promoted fear and division."
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo praised President Trump's diplomatic and security efforts through a video message. He emphasized that President Trump engaged in talks with North Korea to halt missile tests and ensured the safety of Americans.

He also emphasized that President Trump is standing up to the Chinese Communist Party.
