Providing 8 Used Fire Trucks Free of Charge to Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, and Others
Seoul Fire & Disaster Headquarters Supports 127 Ambulances and Pump Trucks to 11 Countries from 2012 to 2019
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 26th that it will provide a total of 8 used fire ambulances free of charge to Cambodia and the Kyrgyz Republic.
Following the support of 127 used fire trucks to 11 countries including the Philippines, Mongolia, Peru, and Myanmar until last year, the city plans to deliver 6 units to Cambodia and 2 units to Kyrgyzstan by the end of next month.
The fire trucks to be supported will be transported to each country after maintenance, and the transportation costs will be partially borne by the Seoul Metropolitan Government's external cooperation fund and the recipient countries.
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters of the city has been supporting used fire trucks to neighboring countries such as Central Asia since 2012 with the purpose of spreading Seoul's world-class disaster management know-how to overseas cities. So far, a total of 127 fire trucks have been supported, including 20 pump trucks, 18 water tank trucks, 3 chemical trucks, 6 rescue buses, and 73 ambulances.
In particular, Kyrgyzstan, which is receiving support for the first time this year, is facing difficulties in responding to infectious diseases, with 43,126 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,057 deaths (total population 6.26 million) as of the 25th. Therefore, after providing 2 ambulances, there are plans to additionally support 1 pump truck and 1 water tank truck each.
