‘Overcoming Tens of Thousands to One Competition...’ Chosun University Chinese International Student Passes Chinese Civil Service Exam
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeong Myeongheon, a Chinese international student from Onju City, Zhejiang Province, China, who completed eight years of study abroad up to the doctoral program at Chosun University, recently became a hot topic after being finally selected as a Chinese national civil servant through fierce competition.
According to Chosun University on the 25th, Jeong Myeongheon, who graduated from the doctoral program in the FTA Business Department at Chosun University Graduate School in February 2020 and obtained a Ph.D. in Trade, passed the Chinese national civil service exam, the National Public Service Examination, held in July.
Jeong had a very positive image of Korea during his teenage years when the Korean Wave began sweeping through China, and in 2014, while attending Wuhan University of Law in China, he transferred to the third year of the Trade Department at Chosun University.
At that time, Gwangju Metropolitan City and Onju City in Zhejiang Province signed a sister city agreement, and in the same year, the Chosun University China Office was established in Onju City, which was the opportunity for him to learn about Chosun University.
He, who likes Korea more than anyone else, focused on his studies during his time abroad while also enjoying learning Korean culture and writing in his spare time. He currently possesses fluent Korean language skills.
He also dreamed of becoming a national civil servant in his home country and, during his study abroad, built knowledge and skills not only in his major but also in various fields such as English, economics, society, and politics.
The Chinese national civil service exam consists of the first stage document screening, the second stage written exam, and the third stage interview, and is known for its fierce competition rates ranging from hundreds to thousands to one. In this exam, the competition rate for the second written exam alone exceeded about 100 to 1.
Especially in the third interview stage, the ability of ‘Thinking & speaking’ is evaluated as the most important, and only those who thoroughly prepare and develop logical expression skills to convey their opinions can pass.
