Gwangju City Provides Emergency Support for Disinfection Supplies to Social Welfare Facilities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the same day that, in response to the elevation of social distancing to Level 2 to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it will urgently provide more than 2,200 quarantine supplies to 283 social welfare facilities at risk of group infections starting from the 25th, by investing 123 million won from the disaster management fund.
The support items include ▲774 protective suits for elderly, disabled, mental health, and homeless facilities at risk of group infections ▲348 thermometers for elderly day and night care centers and disabled day care facilities ▲1,140 disinfectants for comprehensive social welfare centers and elderly and disabled welfare centers.
Earlier, in April, Gwangju City invested 90 million won from the disaster management fund to provide quarantine disinfectors, sterilizing disinfectants, and disinfectant solutions to 32 social welfare facilities as the first phase to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and block their inflow.
Additionally, the city is making every effort to prevent infections in social welfare facilities by proactively implementing 'preventive cohort isolation' in social welfare facilities.

Ryu Mi-su, Director of the Social Welfare Division of the city, said, “We will prioritize supporting quarantine supplies to social welfare facilities with a high risk of group infections to minimize the spread of COVID-19 infections and do our best in quarantine activities so that citizens can safely use social welfare facilities.”
