Won 4 Medals at the National Competition
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The wrestling team of Chosun Institute of Science and Technology (Coach Jeong Cheonmo) is rapidly emerging as a new powerhouse in the wrestling world.
Chosun Institute of Science and Technology announced on the 25th that it won four medals at the 'Yang Jeongmo Olympic Victory Commemoration National Wrestling Tournament' held in Gangwon Province from the 19th.
They earned one silver and two bronze medals in the men's college division, and one bronze medal in the women's general division.
Shin Yonggyu (1st year) won the silver medal in the men's college Greco-Roman 60kg category, Lee Seungyong (1st year) won the bronze medal in the freestyle 70kg category, Kwak Jinhyeop (1st year) won the bronze medal in the freestyle 85kg category, and in the women's general division, Shin Hajin (2nd year) won the bronze medal in the 72kg category.
This tournament was the first national competition of the year hosted and organized by the Korea Wrestling Federation, and due to the impact of COVID-19, the opening and closing ceremonies were not held and the event was conducted without spectators.
President Jo Soon-gye said, "Despite many difficulties such as COVID-19, I am pleased with the good results in the first competition we participated in this year," and added, "Please continue to do your best to raise the honor of our university and region."
Meanwhile, Chosun Institute of Science and Technology officially established its university wrestling team in January last year, and has been nurturing athletes since 2013, achieving excellent results in nationwide competitions.

So far, the team has achieved remarkable results including gold, silver, and bronze medals at national university wrestling tournaments, gold and bronze medals at the National Sports Festival, and a bronze medal at the Junior Asian Championship. Last year, Min Yeji, a university athlete, was selected as a national representative.
