60% of Participants in KCTU August 15 Rally Complete COVID-19 Testing... No Additional Confirmed Cases

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) reported that about 60% of those involved in the rally held near Jonggak Station in Seoul on Liberation Day, August 15, were diagnosed with COVID-19, and no additional cases have been identified beyond one confirmed case of a member of the Metal Workers' Union Kia Motors Hwaseong Branch.
According to the KCTU on the 25th, the organization issued a directive on the 20th, following a resolution by the Central Executive Committee, instructing approximately 1,900 participants of the Liberation Day rally to undergo COVID-19 testing. As of 6 p.m. the previous day, about 60% of them had reported their test results. Among them, only one confirmed case, member A of the Kia Motors Hwaseong Branch, has been identified.
The KCTU emphasized, "In a situation where the spread of COVID-19 is accelerating and public anxiety is rising due to the conservative camp's rally held at Gwanghwamun Square, the KCTU took proactive and preemptive measures ahead of government recommendations and administrative orders to dispel fears and concerns."
