France Reports 4,897 New COVID-19 Cases... Highest Since April
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] The number of new daily confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in France has approached 5,000.
The French Ministry of Health announced that on the 24th (local time), the number of new daily confirmed COVID-19 cases was recorded at 4,897 as of the 23rd. This is the highest number since April 14, when there were 5,497 cases.
The new daily confirmed cases in France were 4,771 on the 20th, 4,586 on the 21st, and 3,602 on the 22nd. Recently, the number of confirmed cases has been in the range of 3,000 to 4,000 daily.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak began in earnest, the highest number of new daily confirmed cases in France was 7,578 on March 31. The nationwide lockdown implemented in March was gradually lifted starting in June, and with the full start of summer vacations in July, awareness of COVID-19 appears to have decreased, which is believed to be the cause of the rapid increase in confirmed cases.
