Jeongeup-si, Full-Scale Development of Experiential Natural Recreation Forest Begins
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 24th that an area of 36 hectares around San 50, Yongsan-dong, was finally designated and approved as the ‘Naejangsan Natural Recreation Forest’ by the Korea Forest Service on the 21st.
Accordingly, by 2023, a total of 18.3 billion KRW, including 8.2 billion KRW in national funds, will be invested to create an experiential natural recreation forest focused on forest leisure and forest recreation facilities near the city.
The designation of a natural recreation forest involves both protecting the forest and developing it simultaneously.
It aims to preserve the forest as much as possible while cultivating it well to create spaces where people can briefly stay and rest.
Through forest protection, fostering, and the creation of rest areas without environmental destruction, it is expected to become a top recreation forest where citizens and tourists can easily access and enjoy the forest.
The city anticipates that the installation of forest leisure facilities such as the alpine coaster, forest slide, and net adventure, which are facilities introduced within the natural recreation forest, will maximize synergy effects and establish Jeongeup as a representative tourist destination.
Additionally, the location conditions allow for linkage with surrounding development conditions, which is expected to help the local economy through extended stay times and increased consumption by citizens and tourists.
