Typhoon 'Babi' Approaching: Strict Request for Coastal Safety Accident Prevention
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Regional Maritime Police Agency (Chief Kim Seongjong) announced that due to the northward approach of Typhoon No. 8 'Bavi', from the 24th until the weather advisory is lifted, the coastal safety accident risk forecast will be upgraded from the "Interest" stage to the "Advisory" stage, and activities to prevent accidents in coastal waters will be strengthened.
The Maritime Police implements the coastal safety accident risk forecast system to inform the public in advance of the risk when there is a concern or occurrence of repeated or continuous safety accidents of the same type, such as weather deterioration or natural disasters, during specific periods, in order to prevent safety accidents.
During the risk forecast period, Jeju Maritime Police plans to make every effort to prevent marine accidents by strengthening patrol activities centered on 102 locations including ports, harbors, and hazardous areas within the jurisdiction, and by promoting through outdoor electronic signboards at affiliated stations and branch offices, as well as their website.

A Jeju Maritime Police Agency official urged, "Since the strength of Typhoon No. 8 Bavi is expected to cause significant damage to Jeju Island, to minimize damage, we ask the public to thoroughly prepare for the typhoon by frequently checking weather information and adhering to safety rules."
