Seongdong-gu Launches Nation's First Free Pet Veterinarian Consultation Service...Provides Customized Expert Advice and Supports Animal Registration for Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Wono) is piloting the nation's first free pet consultation room called ‘Ask Anything, Dog’ where professional veterinary consultations are available free of charge.
This initiative supports pet owners who find it difficult to visit animal hospitals due to economic or time constraints by providing customized free consultations with professional veterinarians to help resolve their pets' issues without burden.
The consultations are conducted by a veterinarian with over 40 years of practical experience in animal treatment and counseling. Through simple visual examinations and palpation, the veterinarian will guide owners on veterinary problem-solving approaches, provide precautions regarding related symptoms, advise on the necessity of detailed hospital examinations, and help correct any previously misunderstood information.
Any pet owner in Seongdong-gu wishing to consult about their pet’s health condition or abnormal behavior can use the service. If demand is high, priority will be given to vulnerable groups.
The consultation schedule runs from September to December, on the first and third Fridays of each month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Consultations are available by phone reservation in advance, and visits take place at the specialized consultation room on the first floor of the district office at the designated time.
Each consultation lasts up to 15 minutes per person. Vulnerable groups such as basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty groups, and elderly living alone can also receive free embedded microchip animal registration if their registered dogs over two months old are unregistered.
Consultation reservations have been available by phone through the Seongdong-gu Office Regional Economy Division since the 20th. Detailed consultation schedules and information can be found on the Seongdong-gu Office website.
