'Immortal Songs' Kim Jong-kook X Turbo Part 1, Rapom Defeats Twice to Crown Jo Kwon & MJ & Shin Joo-hyup as Final Winners (Summary)
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Hyesoo] On the afternoon of the 22nd, the team of Jo Kwon, MJ, and Shin Joohyeop won the final victory on the broadcast of 'Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend' (hereafter 'Immortal Songs').
That day, 'Immortal Songs' aired Part 1 of the 'Kim Jongkook X Turbo' special. Before the main stage began, the newly joined MCs Kim Hyunjun and Kim Sinyoung greeted the audience. In particular, Kim Sinyoung made her debut with the sub-character Second Aunt Kim Dabi's 'Jura Jura'.
The first stage was performed by Yoyomi with the song 'Sarangeureowo' (Lovely). Yoyomi confidently said, "It will be so lovely that you'll want to pinch my cheeks." As she promised, her fresh and lively performance energized the judging panel and studio panelists.
The second stage was by the group ELRIS. Choosing Turbo's 'White Love', ELRIS described their performance as "lovely and powerful." Kim Jongkook praised, "'Sarangeureowo' requires charm, and Yoyomi overflows with it," and commented on ELRIS, "It must have been tough to perform two different versions of the song." This round was won by Yoyomi, earning her the first victory.
Next, La Poem decorated their terrestrial broadcast debut stage with Kim Jongkook's 'Star, Wind, Sunshine, and Love'. Kim Jongkook said about La Poem's fantastic harmony, "Just seeing this stage today is valuable. It felt a lot like a wedding song, and this song is often sung at weddings." La Poem earned their first win.
Following that, B.O.Y, consisting of Song Yubin and Kim Gukheon, performed 'Na Eoril Jeok Kkum' (My Childhood Dream). B.O.Y expressed their ambition, saying, "We want to show that we can bring the emotions of that time while also performing live." Kim Jongkook acknowledged their intense choreography and live singing, saying, "It must have been difficult to do both singing and dancing." However, the judging panel awarded La Poem their second win.
Next, Jung Dongha presented a rock arrangement of Turbo's 'Love Is'. Shin Dongyeop introduced Jung Dongha as holding many records on 'Immortal Songs'. Kim Jongkook praised, "This is a song I personally liked very much, and the rock arrangement was perfect. It would suit rock music on its own, and especially the megaphone effect in the middle added various listening points, which was great." Ultimately, Jung Dongha defeated La Poem, who had two wins, to claim one victory.
The final stage of Part 1 was 'Twist King' by Jo Kwon, Shin Joohyeop, and MJ. The dazzling and energetic performance, reminiscent of a musical, led the judging panel to comment, "Jo Kwon's enthusiasm seems to have fully matured." Kim Jongkook said, "It's a stage I could never do," and added, "It feels like a great way to wrap up Part 1." Jo Kwon, Shin Joohyeop, and MJ's team became the final winners of the 'Kim Jongkook X Turbo' special Part 1.
