New COVID-19 Cases at 332, Over 300 for Two Consecutive Days... Simultaneous Occurrence in 17 Cities and Provinces
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased by 332 on the 22nd. This marks a rise in the 300s following 324 cases the previous day. Confirmed cases occurred simultaneously across all 17 cities and provinces.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on this day, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 332 compared to midnight the previous day. Among them, 315 were confirmed as domestic cases, and 17 were imported cases. The total cumulative number of confirmed cases stands at 17,002 (including 2,716 imported cases).
The status of domestic confirmed cases (as of midnight on the 22nd, cumulative since January 3) includes 127 in Seoul, 91 in Gyeonggi, and 21 in Incheon, mainly in the metropolitan area, but also 16 in Gangwon, 9 each in Daegu and Gwangju, 8 in Gyeongnam, 7 in Jeonnam, 6 in Chungnam, 4 each in Gyeongbuk, Daejeon, and Jeonbuk, 3 in Busan, 2 each in Jeju and Chungbuk, and 1 each in Ulsan and Sejong, with confirmed cases occurring simultaneously across all 17 cities and provinces.

The number of newly released from isolation was 49, bringing the total to 14,169 ( 83.33% ) who have been released from isolation, with 2,524 currently in isolation. The number of severe and critical patients is 25, and there were no deaths, with the cumulative death toll at 309 (a fatality rate of 1.82%).
