[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) will operate the village after-school program "n Lives - n Schools" from September to December for elementary, middle, and high school students residing in the area to create a "village and school where no child is left behind and everyone goes together."
"n Lives - n Schools" is one of the Yeongdeungpo Innovation Education District projects that provides students with various experiential learning and life visions, linking local village communities, organizations, and village resources such as art workshops to support students' cultural and artistic activities that include learning and rest.
The village after-school program began in 2016 with students participating in cultural and artistic experiential activities alongside young artists at seven village spaces including village organizations in Yeongdeungpo and workshops in Mullae Creative Village. As of 2020, it has expanded to 34 experiential programs and spaces, offering various programs tailored to students' levels.
Major programs include 29 types for elementary students such as ▲coding integrated science play ▲FunFun Story Cooking ▲picture book art play ▲crystal crafts, and for middle and high school students, ▲webtoon drawing ▲minhwa design programs are operated. To prevent COVID-19, only 4 to 6 students can attend each class.
Additionally, the village after-school program "n Lives - n Schools" will run from September to December. Detailed information on programs, target groups, recruitment numbers, and schedules by space can be found on the Yeongdeungpo-gu website and the Yeongdeungpo Innovation Education Support Center.
Applications can also be made through the integrated reservation and online registration on the Yeongdeungpo-gu website.
The recruitment period runs until August 28, and the tuition fee is completely free.
A district official said, "Although there have been changes in the operation of educational courses due to the COVID-19 situation, we hope that through various experiential activities with local artists and professional instructors in the village, students can personally feel the values of communication, sharing, and consideration."

Also, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the district will strictly follow quarantine guidelines such as thorough pre- and post-disinfection and ventilation of base spaces. All participating students and instructors must wear masks, use hand sanitizers, and comply with personal prevention rules. Programs will be conducted in small groups after checking for fever and respiratory symptoms.
District Mayor Chae Hyun-il said, "I hope this becomes a precious time for children to have a moment of relaxation through village educational activities that include learning and rest within the village," and added, "We will continue to strive to develop various programs for the continuous learning and growth of children and adolescents."
