Seodaemun-gu, Expanding Affiliated Stores for Child Meal Cards
Enhancing Menu Selection Diversity and Restaurant Accessibility for Child Users
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) is promoting the expansion of affiliated stores to increase menu selection diversity and restaurant accessibility for children using meal cards.
The Child Meal Card, also known as the Kkum Namu Card, is provided to children and adolescents under the age of 18 who are at risk of food insecurity. It can be used at affiliated stores within the region and 24-hour convenience stores, with a limit of 6,000 KRW per meal and a maximum of 12,000 KRW per day.
Currently, there are 116 affiliated stores for the Child Meal Card in Seodaemun-gu, but due to variations by neighborhood, the district is continuously recruiting additional general restaurants such as Korean, snack, and Chinese restaurants within the area.
Restaurant owners wishing to join as affiliated stores can download the application form from the Seodaemun-gu website's notice section, fill it out, and submit it along with a copy of their business registration certificate to the community service center of the district where their business is located.
Seodaemun-gu reviews the suitability of the applying businesses and designates them as affiliated stores, attaching a certificate to the respective establishments.
In particular, the district plans to expand affiliated stores in cooperation with the Seodaemun Branch of the Korea Foodservice Industry Association (Chairman Yoon Cheol).
