Lee Jae-myung's 'Gyeonggi-do Basic Housing' Creates Forum for Public Debate in the National Assembly
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] A public forum on the long-term public rental housing 'Gyeonggi-do Basic Housing' proposed by Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung will be held at the National Assembly.
Gyeonggi-do Basic Housing is rental housing where anyone without a home can live for more than 30 years. The Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation announced on the 21st of last month a plan to build Basic Housing, stating that it will supply it in station areas within large-scale development project sites such as the 3rd new towns in the metropolitan area including Hanam Gyosan, Gwacheon, Ansan Jangsang, and Yongin Platform City.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 20th that on the 25th, a 'Gyeonggi-do Basic Housing Policy Forum' will be held in the main conference room of the National Assembly Members' Office Building, attended by Governor Lee Jae-myung, members of the National Assembly, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH), and private experts.
The forum was prepared to publicly announce the direction of related policies through policy proposals and discussions on 'Gyeonggi-do Basic Housing.'
The forum will be held without an audience due to the elevation of social distancing to Level 2.
The forum can be viewed on the Gyeonggi Province website's 'Social Broadcast LIVE Gyeonggi (live.gg.go.kr).' Mobile viewing is also available.
The forum will proceed with keynote presentations by lawyer Kim Nam-geun, Park Mi-sun, research fellow of the Housing and Land Research Division at the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, and Lee Heon-wook, president of Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation, followed by expert discussions.

The expert discussion will be chaired by Professor Im Jae-man of Sejong University, with discussants including Kim Seong-dal, director of the Real Estate and Construction Reform Division at the Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice, Professor Park Jun of the University of Seoul, Nam Gi-eop, director of the Land Freedom Research Institute, and Kang Tae-seok, head of the Public Housing Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
