Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon Temple Stay Operations Suspended
Educational Programs Including Korean Temple Food Culture Experience Center Also Suspended
Due to the resurgence of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the operation of templestays in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, and Busan will be suspended for two weeks. The Korea Buddhist Cultural Foundation announced on the 19th that, following the government's strengthened social distancing measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, templestay operations at forty-one temples will be halted until the 30th. Educational programs such as the Templestay Promotion Center, Korean Temple Food Culture Experience Center, and Temple Food Education Center will also be suspended. This is the second time operations have been halted due to the spread of COVID-19. The Cultural Foundation previously suspended templestay and educational program operations at 137 temples nationwide for one month at the end of February, when COVID-19 cases surged.
