President Park Jaegyu of Gyeongnam National University Attends Local Innovation Meeting Based on Local Government-University Cooperation
Direction for Promoting the Gyeongnam Regional Innovation Platform Project and Exploring Regional Innovation Strategies
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Park Jae-gyu, president of Gyeongnam National University, announced on the 18th that he attended the '2020 Gyeongsangnam-do Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Platform' meeting held at the 'LG Electronics Changwon Research and Development (R&D) Center' in Changwon, Gyeongnam.
The meeting was attended by Yoo Eun-hye, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Kim Kyung-soo, Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do, Park Jae-gyu, president of Gyeongnam National University, Kwon Soon-ki, president of Gyeongsang National University, Roh Jung-hye, chairperson of the National Research Foundation of Korea, and representatives of regional innovation institutions as well as local university students.
They explored the direction of the Gyeongnam regional innovation platform’s project implementation and innovation strategies to create a region where young people want to settle and live.
The 'Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Project' is part of the Moon Jae-in administration’s core policy of 'regional innovation and national balanced development,' supporting local universities to collaborate with local governments to nurture talented individuals and increase youth settlement in the region by playing a key role.

Selected as a regional innovation platform, Gyeongnam consists of 17 universities in the region, the Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education, LG Electronics, Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute, and 49 regional innovation institutions forming the platform to cooperate in three core areas: 'Manufacturing Engineering,' 'Manufacturing ICT,' and 'Smart Community.'
