Chairman Igil-yeo of Gachon Gil Foundation Inducted into Korean Academy of Management 'Hall of Fame'
First Founder of a Nonprofit Public Interest Foundation
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Lee Gil-yeo, chairman of the Gachon Gil Foundation (president of Gachon University), will be inducted into the "Hall of Fame" established by the Korean Academic Society of Business Administration.
The Korean Academic Society of Business Administration's Hall of Fame honors companies or businesspeople who have contributed to the development of the Korean economy, with inductees including Lee Byung-chul, chairman of Samsung Group, Koo In-hoo, founder of LG Group, and Park Tae-joon, chairman of POSCO.
Chairman Lee Gil-yeo was selected as the 12th inductee. He is the first founder of a non-profit public interest foundation to be inducted.
The Korean Academic Society of Business Administration stated, "Chairman Lee established Gil Hospital, developing it into one of the leading hospitals in the country, and launched Gachon University, the first in Korea to integrate four universities, leading efforts to nurture global talent. He also founded the Gachon Brain Science Research Institute and the Lee Gil-yeo Cancer and Diabetes Research Institute, making large-scale investments in basic medical science research institutes. Additionally, through the cultural foundation and museum, he has carried out various cultural, artistic, and media activities, achieving outstanding accomplishments in the non-profit and public interest sectors, leading to his induction into the Hall of Fame."
Chairman Lee expressed his gratitude, saying, "I appreciate being selected as an awardee breaking precedent by honoring a non-profit manager. I will pursue management that looks to the future and dedicate myself to public interest."
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on the 18th at the Songdo Convensia in Incheon during the Korean Academic Society of Business Administration's Convergence Academic Conference.
