Guro-gu Launches Psychological Support Program to Overcome COVID-19 Blues
Providing 'Mental Health Screening Service' Using Unmanned Devices... Individual Counseling for High-Risk Groups... Dr. Jeong Hye-shin's 'Mental Health Special Lecture' on September 9 at 3 PM... Online Registration Open Until Before the Lecture
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Sung) is implementing psychological support projects to alleviate residents' 'Corona Blue.'
Guro-gu announced on the 18th that many people are experiencing feelings of depression due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing, and reduced outings, and to relieve residents' mental stress and support healthy living, it has prepared mental health screening and counseling services as well as special lectures.
The 'Mental Health Screening Service' utilizes unmanned devices installed at three locations: Guro-gu Public Health Center, Guro-gu Mental Health Welfare Center, and Seoul 50 Plus Southern Campus.
Screening participants simply answer questions via the device's touchscreen.
The service assesses stress, depression, and suicide risk through 30 to 40 questions, and residents identified as high-risk receive care text messages followed by individual counseling.
Guro-gu is also conducting a mental health special lecture titled 'To Those Weary from Corona Blue' in collaboration with the Seoul 50 Plus Foundation.
This lecture will be live-streamed on the Seoul 50 Plus Foundation's YouTube channel for one hour starting at 2 p.m. on September 9. Psychiatrist Dr. Hyeshin Jung will serve as the lecturer, providing understanding of Corona Blue and proper coping methods.
Those wishing to attend can apply on the Seoul 50 Plus Southern Campus website before the lecture. The course is free of charge.
