The Korea Meteorological Administration announced on the 15th, "Due to the stationary front moving northward in the central region, rain is expected in northern Gyeonggi and northern Gangwon Yeongseo until the morning of the 16th, after which the stationary front is expected to move north into North Korea."
The monsoon season in the central region, which began on June 24, is expected to set a record for the longest duration ever.
Heavy rain warnings for Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, and northern Gangwon Yeongseo will be lifted, but until 6 p.m. on the same day, strong rain of about 30mm per hour accompanied by gusts and thunder/lightning is expected in southern Gyeonggi and southern Gangwon Yeongseo, so caution is advised.
Meanwhile, with heatwave warnings issued for most of the country, hot weather with daytime temperatures rising up to 35 degrees Celsius will continue until next week. Chungcheong Province, the eastern coast of Gangwon, the southern regions, and northern Jeju Island will experience temperatures around 35 degrees, while many places in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon Yeongseo will see temperatures rising above 33 degrees.
