Rediscovering Seo Hyun-woo of 'The Flower of Evil', Terrifying Immersion
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Seo Hyun-woo is showing a strong presence with his intense immersion in ‘Flower of Evil’.
On the 13th, Seo Hyun-woo appeared as reporter Kim Moo-jin in the tvN Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Flower of Evil’ (written by Yoo Jung-hee, directed by Kim Cheol-gyu), successfully securing an exclusive interview with a witness of a serial murder case.
That day, Kim Moo-jin was struck on the back of the head by the real murderer Park Kyung-chun (Yoon Byung-hee) and was receiving treatment at a local hospital when he obtained crucial information. The detective who came to visit him for a witness investigation had been part of the serial murder case investigation team in Yeonju City during his time as a police officer, prompting Kim to pursue the story.
Kim Moo-jin shared drinks with the detective and, although heavily intoxicated, pretended to go to the restroom and secretly recorded information on his forearm. Through this, he learned about Jang Young-hee, who witnessed the kidnapping of Jeong Mi-sook, the last victim of the Yeonju City serial murder case.
Moo-jin visited the witness and asked her to recount exactly what she saw 18 years ago, but she was reluctant to speak. However, he did not give up. He tried to persuade her by saying, “If the police had properly investigated when the report was made, Mi-sook could have been saved,” and “I want to uncover the police’s negligence from 18 years ago.”
But Jang Young-hee feared the trouble her testimony might cause. Moo-jin reassured her by saying, “Do Min-seok (Choi Byung-mo) died a long time ago,” but Young-hee mentioned the possibility of an accomplice, saying, “Not that guy.”
Finally, the courageous witness came to Moo-jin and handed over a tape of an answering machine recording from 18 years ago. It contained the voice of a man threatening the witness, explaining why she had suddenly retracted her statement, claiming she could not remember.
The online chemistry with Baek Hee-sung (played by Lee Joon-gi) also shone. During a call with Hee-sung, who survived after being kidnapped and tortured by Park Byung-chun, Moo-jin expressed surprise, saying, “I really thought you were going to die this time, you’re really healthy,” and, preparing for the police investigation, suggested they coordinate their stories by saying, “Recite it,” displaying a subtle bromance.
