[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] "Students preparing for the 4th Industrial Revolution era don't need to be trapped in uniform, rote education. We will design curricula tailored to the characteristics of each student aiming to enter overseas universities and enable them to complete all study abroad preparations in one place without separate private education."
This October, an overseas study-linked educational institution, Vivian & Stanley (Gangnam International Scholars), will open near Gangnam Station in Seoul. Founder and CEO Myunghee Kim (pictured) is a study abroad expert who has been guiding overseas university admission processes and operating a Chinese international school since 2009.
CEO Kim explained, "In the past, many chose to study abroad because they struggled with or did not fit well into the public education system, but recently, students with outstanding learning abilities and special talents are choosing overseas admission themselves to develop global sensibility and broaden their experiences. Vivian & Stanley's role is to motivate such students and help them prepare balanced academic and career paths."
The educational goal pursued is "efficient guidance that produces the best results." Along with intensive English education, classes follow the same curriculum level as American secondary schools, and various external activities, competitions, and portfolios are prepared. Although classified as an unlicensed school domestically, this curriculum is accredited by the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA CESS), an American accreditation body, granting the same college entrance qualifications as local high school graduates.
To this end, younger grades focus intensively on fundamental skills such as reading and writing, laying the foundation for self-directed learning. While many international school students rely on private education to prepare for TOEFL, AP, SAT, or IB, Vivian & Stanley supplements lacking studies through after-school programs or offers necessary classes, saving both time and costs.
Through the regular curriculum, students can also prepare for IT certifications such as GTQ (Graphic National Certification), MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist International Certification), and ADsP (Data Analysis Semi-Professional National Certification). STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) are also deeply structured for students considering science and engineering fields.
In addition to renowned instructors leading the classes, consultants who are former American university admissions officers have been invited to devise admission strategies. All 13 teachers have overseas study experience, enabling them to advise not only on academic aspects but also on school life and local living after studying abroad.

CEO Kim said, "At least 11 teachers and counselors will collaborate per student to create and manage a customized one-stop plan. For this, we plan to operate with a small enrollment of about 80 students across 8 grades for the time being." She added, "We will provide an environment where students can design their dreams and grow to maximize their potential," expressing confidence that "within 2 to 3 years, students will be admitted to prestigious overseas universities, including the US Ivy League."
