Gwangju Fire Department Concentrates Firefighting Resources to Find Missing Persons in Gwangjucheon Amid Heavy Rain
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Fire Safety Headquarters announced on the 13th that it will concentrate firefighting resources on finding the missing person in Gwangjucheon due to recent heavy rains.
Gwangju Fire Department has been conducting a search after the belongings of Kim (77, female), who went out on the 7th and lost contact, were found near Gwangjucheon in Yongsan-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju. It is presumed that she went missing due to the rapid currents caused by the heavy rain.
They have been searching with the police using equipment and personnel such as fire helicopters and drones, but have faced difficulties so far.
As the search area expanded, from this day for two days, Gwangju Fire Department has significantly increased search equipment and personnel, deploying one fire helicopter, seven fire drones, 27 pieces of equipment including rubber boats and fire vehicles, and about 320 firefighters and volunteer firefighters to conduct a detailed search in the section from Yongsan Bridge in Dong-gu to downstream Seungchonbo in Nam-gu.
The search area is divided into a total of five zones, with six teams conducting the search, and the command and control is handled by the 119 Special Rescue Team at Seungchonbo.
Using fire helicopters and drones, aerial searches are conducted over the entire area from Yongsan Bridge to Seungchonbo, focusing on upstream and downstream of Seungchonbo, and water searches are conducted using boats.
The remaining sections?Yongsan Bridge in Dong-gu to Taepyeong Bridge in Seo-gu, Seungchonbo in Nam-gu to Geungnak Bridge in Gwangsan-gu, Taepyeong Bridge in Seo-gu to Geungnak Bridge in Gwangsan-gu, and Seochang Bridge in Seo-gu to Geungnak Bridge in Gwangsan-gu?will be intensively searched using boats, jet skis, and on foot.
