Gimje-si, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Designates 17 New 'Clean Livestock Farms'
A Total of 90 Locations Recognized So Far
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jaehee] Seventeen livestock farms in Gimje-si, Jeonbuk, have been newly designated as 'Clean Livestock Farms' in 2020, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
On the 13th, the city announced that including the 17 newly designated farms, a total of 90 livestock farms in the jurisdiction (20 in 2017, 31 in 2018, 22 in 2019, and 17 in the first half of 2020) have been recognized as clean livestock farms.
The Clean Livestock Farm Creation Project is a key initiative promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs since 2017 to establish a turning point for sustainable livestock industry development by raising livestock in a pleasant environment through the voluntary efforts of livestock farmers.
When livestock farms wishing to be designated apply, the Ministry designates them after document screening by the city and on-site evaluation by the Livestock Environment Management Institute, and the designation is valid for five years.
Once designated as a clean livestock farm, farms can receive priority support for projects such as livestock manure treatment support, livestock facility modernization, and odor reduction facility support, as well as consulting support to maintain and manage clean livestock farms.
Applications are accepted year-round at the Eup, Myeon, and Dong community centers, and on-site evaluations will be conducted only for farms that apply by next month, with designations planned for this year.
