It is estimated that there are about 90 close contacts of this student, prompting emergency measures by the quarantine authorities.
According to Busan city quarantine authorities and the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education on the 12th, student A (18) of Busan Mechanical Technical High School was tested at Samyuk Busan Hospital in Seo-gu, Busan, at around 9:30 p.m. on the 11th due to a high fever and was confirmed positive for COVID-19 on the 12th.
Student A, who was living in the school dormitory, returned home to Gamcheon-dong, Saha-gu at around 4:30 p.m. on the 7th after finishing school activities and returned to the school dormitory at around 7 p.m. on the 9th.
The high school is also known to have held a technology camp at the school’s Changjo Hall on the 11th. Dozens of students participated in this camp.
The number of people classified as contacts of student A within the school reaches about 90. Busan city quarantine authorities are conducting COVID-19 tests on about 90 contacts, including 31 students living on the same dormitory floor as student A, 20 classmates, 1 homeroom teacher, and 30 camp participants.
Due to the confirmed case within the school, the school decided to hold the scheduled vacation ceremony on the 13th online.
