Gyeongju City Accelerates Establishment of Private Agricultural Policy Organization 'Nong-eo-eop Hoeuiseo'... Founding General Assembly Scheduled for Year-End
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] On the 12th, Gyeongju City in Gyeongbuk held a meeting of participating organizations for the establishment of the 'Agriculture and Fisheries Chamber,' a private agricultural policy organization promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, at the city hall's large conference room.
At the meeting attended by about 60 heads of agricultural and fishery-related organizations and heads of crop-specific associations in the region, the establishment promotion team (led by Lee Ihwan, president of the Gyeongju Federation of Agricultural Managers) shared future schedules, including securing 2,500 members by November and holding the inaugural general meeting.
Lee Ihwan, head of the establishment promotion team, stated, "We plan to visit non-member agricultural and fishery organizations and producer groups to conduct intensive membership recruitment for group, special, and individual members," adding, "We will proceed with future schedules such as the inaugural general meeting according to the membership recruitment status."
Joo Nak-young, mayor of Gyeongju, said, "The establishment of the Agriculture and Fisheries Chamber will greatly contribute to the development of agriculture and fisheries," and added, "Since it is about establishing a representative organization for farmers and fishermen, we will spare no administrative support."
Meanwhile, the Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Ministry has been promoting the establishment of Agriculture and Fisheries Chambers since 2010, and currently, 17 chambers are operating nationwide. Additionally, 23 chambers are in the process of being established.
