[Asia Economy, Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The first group of Hydrogen Economy Supporters is launching activities to promote the hydrogen economy.

The supporters and the Hydrogen Economy Promotion Task Force (TF) are visiting the Energy Safety Demonstration Research Center of the Korea Gas Safety Corporation in Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon Province, on August 12.

The TF, established in January, is composed of hydrogen-related organizations and experts, including those from the government, local governments, relevant institutions, and the private sector. It was launched to provide the public with detailed information about hydrogen energy and safety management systems.

The center serves as a forward base for the development of the gas industry, equipped with a total of 165 pieces of gas-related equipment and facilities across 86 types. It plays a key role in developing ultra-high-pressure and ultra-low-temperature equipment and conducting fire and explosion experiments.

This tour was organized to allow the supporters to directly observe safety testing and evaluation equipment for hydrogen products and components, and to create content to promote the safety of hydrogen energy.

Before the tour, the TF held a seminar for the supporters, sharing information on the safety management system for the hydrogen industry ecosystem, the High-Pressure Gas Safety Control Act, the Hydrogen Act, and the Comprehensive Safety Management Plan for the Hydrogen Economy.

Following the seminar, the group toured facilities for verifying the safety and reliability of hydrogen-related containers, components, and systems, including the basic physical properties testing building, the ultra-high-pressure testing building, the combustion testing building, and the outdoor testing site.

One supporter said, "I want to gain experience as a supporter and actively promote the safety of hydrogen energy in various ways to raise awareness of a safe hydrogen economy."

The supporters will promote their experiences and reviews of the tour on their personal social media channels. Searching '#HydrogenEconomySupporters' on Naver, Facebook, or Instagram will provide more information.

An official from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy stated, "We plan to continue communicating with the public through ongoing on-site coverage and online content production, maintaining both online and offline promotional activities."
