Professor Kim Junha of GIST Appointed as Member of the National Water Management Committee
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] Professor Kim Junha of the Department of Earth Environmental Engineering at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology has been appointed as a member of the Presidential Committee on National Water Management.
The Water Management Committee is an organization that plays a central role in water management, including establishing the National Water Management Basic Plan and mediating water disputes. At its launch, it was composed of 39 members, including 15 government and public institution officials and 24 private members, with the Prime Minister and Heo Jaeyoung, President of Chungnam Provincial College, serving as co-chairmen. This time, seven new members, including Professor Kim Junha, were appointed, bringing the total number of members to 48. They are divided into three subcommittees: Planning, Water Dispute Mediation, and Policy, which review the establishment of the National Water Management Basic Plan, watershed plans, and the enactment and revision of water-related laws.
Professor Kim is a water management expert who has served as the head of the water quality investigation team for the Four Major Rivers Investigation and Evaluation Committee under the Office for Government Policy Coordination and as the head responsible for domestic production of components and materials at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's seawater desalination plant project team.
