[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Korea University and Yonsei University announced on the 11th that they will cancel the annual Korea-Yonsei Sports Competition (Koyonjeon), which was scheduled to be held this October.
Through a notice signed by the presidents of both universities, Korea University and Yonsei University stated, "If intense matches are held at five sports fields and gymnasiums, it is impossible not to worry about (COVID-19) infections caused by excessive physical contact during cheering and after-party events."

A Korea University official explained, "Discussions about canceling Koyonjeon have been ongoing since the end of last month," adding, "This decision was made through several rounds of mutual agreement between the two universities."
