Guro-gu 'Dolbom SOS Center' Operation
Actively Responding to Increasing Welfare Demands Amid Prolonged COVID-19, Economic Crisis, and Rising Single-Person Households... Providing Customized Welfare Services Such as Temporary Home Care and Meal Support for Seniors, Disabled, and Middle-Aged Groups
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is operating the ‘Dolbom SOS Center’.
Guro-gu announced that it is operating the ‘Dolbom SOS Center’ to prevent blind spots in care and actively respond to increasing welfare demands, and that a pilot project has been underway since the 3rd of this month ahead of the full project starting in the second half of next year.
The ‘Dolbom SOS Center’ is a project that connects and provides customized welfare services to residents in need of care. It was established to strengthen the public nature of care in response to social changes such as care gaps caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, economic crisis, and increase in single-person households.
The eligible users are seniors, people with disabilities, and middle-aged households aged 50 or older who meet all three of the following conditions: ▲ having difficulty moving alone or performing independent daily activities ▲ absence of family members who can provide care or inability of family members to provide care ▲ not using public care services or experiencing unavoidable gaps while using such services.
The services provided cover four areas: temporary home care, meal support, short-term facility admission, and information counseling. A customized care plan is established according to the welfare needs of the target, and necessary services are provided.
The service usage fee is supported up to 1.56 million KRW per person annually for basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty class, and residents with median income at or below 100% (85% after the COVID-19 situation ends).
Other general residents must bear the service costs themselves.
Those who wish to apply can inquire at their local community service center. In cases requiring urgent care, a care manager visits the home within 72 hours after application, and in other cases within 7 days for consultation.
