Naver Labs Builds Road Layout Map Covering Entire Seoul City
Contains detailed information at the level of road surface markings and lane units
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Naver Labs announced on the 6th that it has released a road layout map that digitizes major roads with four or more lanes throughout Seoul.
The newly released map contains detailed information at the lane level, including road surface markings, and is expected to have limitless applications ranging from navigation to autonomous driving technology. This map was built covering 2,092 km of roads across Seoul. By utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and vision technology, more accurate road information data was secured, and the classification of road surface markings was automated, reducing production time and costs.

The road layout map contains detailed lane-level structures and road surface marking information, enabling precise traffic volume analysis at the lane level or improving navigation accuracy by integrating it into navigation systems. Baek Jong-yoon, head of the Autonomous Driving Group at Naver Labs, said, "Naver Labs' unique technological capabilities to produce large-scale city-level 3D modeling and HD maps are recognized for their competitiveness not only domestically but also globally."
