"‘Muimseungcha Investigation Ends, Then Again...’ Habitual Fraud 50s Man Booked"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] A man in his 50s, who was investigated for fare evasion, committed the same crime again immediately after leaving the police station, leading to a complaint being filed with the police.
The Gwangju Western Police Station announced on the 4th that they had booked Mr. A (57) after receiving a complaint from a taxi driver who claimed he did not receive the taxi fare.
Mr. A is accused of taking a taxi from Chipyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju to Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do around 10 a.m. on the 28th of last month and not paying the taxi fare of 350,000 won (fraud).
Upon arriving in Uiwang-si, Mr. A told the taxi driver, "I don't have money right now," visited a nearby security center, and even provided a personal guarantee, but it is known that he did not send the money even after a week.
Earlier, on the 27th, after listening to an acquaintance who said they would introduce him to a job, he randomly hailed a taxi in Uiwang-si and came down to Gwangju, then did not pay the taxi fare, was investigated by the police, and released.
Mr. A has multiple prior convictions for fraud, including fare evasion and riding without paying, and is currently known to be detained in Gunsan, Jeonbuk on similar charges.
